Viagra: The Little Blue Pill for Treating Impotence

Why Viagra is so popular among all other oral ED treatments is probably because it is the first oral treatment that made way for men to overcome ED. This drug was actually not created to treat ED initially. It was created for treating angina pectoris and high blood pressure by two Pfizer scientists, Peter Dunn and Albert Wood. But after a number of clinical trials, they discovered that this medication is more effective in helping men to overcome impotence.

Viagra is known as the little blue pill popularly across the world. It comes in diamond-shaped blue pills that are available in 100mg, 200 mg, and 150 mg. This drug has an effective half-life of 4-5 hours approximately. This product is only recommended for use by adults of age 18 years or above. Nobody below the age of 18 years should receive this drug. Buying Viagra online requires a valid prescription from a doctor.

What is Viagra? How does this ED drug work?

Viagra is the first oral ED pill to get approved for treating erectile dysfunction or impotence in men. This drug or treatment is generically known as Sildenafil. This product received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on March 27, 1998.  This drug works by relaxing the muscles in the penile region and helps in better blood flow into that region. It is an effective PDE5 inhibitor that prevents the production of PDE5 which is primarily responsible for reduced flow of blood in human body. By increasing the blood supply into that region, it helps a man get an erection.

Note that this ED pill helps get an erection only in combination with sexual stimulation. These pills won’t work that well in the absence of sexual stimulation. Also, remember that it provides absolutely no protection against sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea, AIDS etc.
