About Soma Pill
Generically called Carisoprodol, Soma Pill is a centrally acting
muscle relaxer that affects a person’s central nervous system to provide relief
from acute and muscle pain or injuries. This medication received approval in
the year 2007 to help people suffering from acute pain. It should be used in
combination with proper rest and physical therapy to get effective relief from
pain.
This drug not only provides muscle relaxation but is also a
good mental relaxer. It alters the transmission of pain sensations that takes
place between the nerves in the spinal cord and in the brain. It changes a
person’s perception towards pain.
Due to this mind relaxing effect of Soma pill, it has been
increasingly abused. Some also use this drug for non-medical purposes or in
ways in which this drug should not be consumed. Due to these reasons, it has
been declared as a controlled drug (C-IV) by the Drug Enforcement Agency under
the Controlled Substances Act. It is only sold with prescriptions in the United
States.
Precautions!!
- · This pain medication should be stored in a cool and dry place and at room temperature. Do not keep this drug in your washroom. Keep it in a secured place that not easily reachable for children and animals.
- · Show your past medical reports to your doctor. Inform him/her if you were a drug addict before or if you have a habit of taking alcohol regularly. Also, tell your doctor about the drugs that you are taking currently. Such drugs can include prescribed drugs, non-prescribed drugs, illegal drugs, recreational drugs, nutritional drugs, dietary drugs, herbal products, or vitamins, etc.
- · Never share your medication with other people especially if they have a history of drug addiction. People with a prior addiction have more chances of misusing this drug. Soma addiction can even lead to death.
- · Never take this medication with alcohol or with such sedative substances. This might lead to very dangerous and long-term health consequences.
- · Driving should be avoided or any other activities that require mental alertness must be avoided while using this medication at least until such tasks can be performed safely. This is because this medication has the ability to make a person feel dizzy.
- · Children or teenagers less than 17 years should be refrained from using this drug.
Adverse Drug Reactions
Some of the commonly reported side effects of this drug are
headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, upset stomach, fever, constipation,
diarrhea, etc.
A more serious but rare side effect of this drug includes
allergic reactions such as rashes, itching/swelling of tongue, throat, or mouth
etc. It may also include trouble breathing and severe dizziness.
Mental or mood changes are also reported by some users that
includes hallucinations, nervousness, agitation, confusion, depression, rare
suicidal thoughts etc.
Note that this is not a complete list of side-effects of
this drug. There may be some side-effects that are not mentioned in this list.
